On the banks of the Mississippi River, you’ll find plenty of parks, campgrounds, and attractions. But none of them shine quite as brightly as River View RV Park & Resort. This park is located right on the border between Louisiana and Mississippi, making it the perfect stop for anyone who wants to visit both states.

In addition, this campground has received hundreds of positive reviews from guests. That fact alone put it on our radar, but with the combination of its amazing location, wide range of amenities, and fascinating local attractions, it’s easy to see why it has become so popular.

The Mississippi River is one of America’s most noteworthy landmarks, so it’s worthwhile to camp next to it at least once. And after reading this breakdown, you might become yet another fan of the River View RV Park & Resort. Let’s take a closer look at why this is a must-visit for everyone who passes through the area.

Overview

River View RV Park & Resort is located in Vidalia, Louisiana. And though it’s technically in the Pelican State, you can see Mississippi on the other side of the river! It’s easy to drive, bike, or even walk across the bridge that defines the state borders.

You’re also very close to the city of Natchez, which is home to several attractions and historical buildings and sites. And running through it all (of course) is the mighty Mississippi River. There are several branches to explore but you’ll also have a great view of the water right from the campground.

Speaking of which, let’s take a look at River View RV Park & Resort. For starters, this is a fairly large park with 193 sites in total. Nearly all of these come with full hookups for water, sewage, and electricity. There are a handful of RV sites that only have electricity and water, though, so make sure you know which type you’re reserving before you arrive. Tent camping is permitted here as well, but it’s primarily a campground for RVers.

As the name suggests, the river is the focal point of this campground. Many sites have a clear view of the water and even those who don’t can still appreciate it thanks to the nearby walking path. If you’re lucky, you can snag one of the waterfront campsites for your visit.

Rates

Although waterfront sites are a little more pricey than other options, all of the rates at River View RV Resort are rather affordable. Weekly and monthly discounts are available for longer visits, but the average nightly price for each site type is listed below:

  • Prime Riverview Site (Concrete): $54.95 per night
  • Prime Riverview Site (Grass): $45.95 per night
  • Limestone/ Northside Back-in Site: $37.95 per night
  • “Primitive” RV Site in Shaded Grove: $29.95 per night
  • Tent Site: $25 per night

As you can see, even the most expensive sites, complete with a waterfront view and full hookups, are not going to break the bank. This campground has become so popular because its high-quality location and amenities are still budget-friendly to all kinds of campers.

And thanks to the warm weather that Mississippi and Louisiana experience throughout the year, this park does not close in the winter. So if you’re tired of the cold, this could be the perfect place for you! It’s also not as crowded as a spot at the beach, so keep it in mind next time you’re looking for a winter getaway. You’ll even get a discounted rate if you visit between December and February.

Amenities

You may have noticed that the full name of this park is the River View RV Park & Resort, with resort being the key word here. That usually implies that your visit will be elevated beyond the typical rural campground experience. And sure enough, this park has several amenities and guest-centered features that put it above and beyond the standard expectations.

Like most modern RV parks, this one offers bathrooms for guests to use. Showers and laundry machines are also offered, making it easy for all guests to stay fresh and clean. The laundry room is open 24/7 as well.

As we covered previously, almost all of the RV spots come with full hookups. Guests also have the option for 20-, 30-, or 50-amp electrical hookups at each site, depending on what they require. Wi-Fi access and picnic tables are provided to everyone, plus many guests can enjoy paved parking spots.

This whole park is also pet-friendly, so be sure to bring your four-legged friends along for the ride. There’s a dog park here, plus several great walking paths in and around the campground. And if your pup loves swimming, the river will be hard for them to resist.

For those who are intimidated by the large Mississippi River, you can also enjoy the on-site pool and hot tub at this RV park. These are safe for swimmers of all skill levels, plus there’s a nice shaded pavilion off to the side where you can take a break from the sun.

Looking for an activity during your stay? Head to the clubhouse! This community space has comfy places to sit and chat, a TV, a fireplace, a desk, and a large library of books and movies to choose from. And if you have some kiddos who have too much energy, send them off to the park playground to run and play.

Guests who stay for extended periods can also gain access to affordable and convenient RV storage options. It’s perfect if you have vehicles that you don’t plan to use very often. And finally, River View RV Park & Resort goes above and beyond by providing a shuttle service to the nearby Magnolia Bluffs Casino. This is an easy way to travel to and from downtown Natchez and explore new parts of the city!

Nearby Activities/Attractions

So now you know all the options for entertainment within the River View RV Park. Now let’s look at the surrounding area! There are lots of things to explore here, no matter which side of the river you land on.

For starters, there is so much history to this area. Some of the buildings in Natchez have been there for hundreds of years, and the Native American history goes back much further. A must-see for any visitor is the St. Mary Basilica, a gorgeous cathedral with arched ceilings and intricate stained-glass windows. Several colonial-era mansions have been converted into museums and they are available for tours as well.

Going further back, you can learn more about the people the town is named for: the Natchez. The Grand Village of the Natchez features three prehistoric Indian Mounds as well as a visitor center and a nature trail. If you want to explore even further, check out the Natchez Trace Parkway, which is a trail that stretches 444 miles from Mississippi to Tennessee. This path is dotted with landmarks, historic sites, and scenic views.

Of course, not everybody is going to want an outdoorsy activity. If you want to stick closer to town, there are plenty of local attractions to visit. You could shop for a fun curio at Antique Row, take a carriage ride through the city, or stroll through the Delta Music Museum.

Reviews

River View RV Park & Resort clearly has a lot going for it. But the real reason it stood out to us was because of its reviews. Many campgrounds have between 50–100 reviews and that gives you a good idea of whether or not it’s a nice place to visit. Meanwhile, this one is sitting pretty with well over 600 reviews on RV LIFE Campgrounds.

If that many people have something to say, it either means the park is really good or really bad. And fortunately for everyone, this RV park definitely lands on the good side. With all of these reviews combined, River View RV Park & Resort earned an average rating of 9.6/10. That’s an incredible score and it definitely deserves a spotlight.

One of the main compliments that people repeatedly mentioned was the location. This park is well situated right on the banks of the Mississippi River, so it’s ideal for anyone who wants to camp close to it. Guests also mentioned that the amenities worked wonderfully and that the whole park was clean and beautiful. In fact, it was difficult to find anybody who did not have a wonderful experience here!

So if you plan to stop anywhere along the Mississippi River during your travels, River View RV Park & Resort should be very high on your list.
